Game Notes

Lady Kings Varsity

The Springfield Ladykings Varsity girls played in Owensboro, Kentucky
on Saturday February 2nd. Kudos to the Ladykings for stepping up to the plate and volunteering to play three games in 4 hours! And what a great 4 hours!! The Ladykings were AWESOME!

The first game was against the Assumption Rockets. The Ladykings won easily with some great offense and a shutout for Ally Edwards, our goalie! Game two was against the Louisville Lady Storm. A close game with Jenna Edwards scoring 2 goals, Marie Vercellino scoring 1 and Kari Huddleston and Bailey Zumer assisting on these, the Ladykings skated to a 3-2 victory over the 1st
place Lady Storm! Great Job girls! The third game was against the Owensboro Southern Belles. This game went well into the third period before a goal was made by Caitlin Ward and assisted by Bailey Zumer for the Ladykings. The Ladykings were able to hold onto the lead and win
with a score of 1-0 over the Southern Belles. Great Defense Girls!!

Congratulations to Ally Edwards for 2 shutouts in one day! and
Congratulations to the Ladykings for a great day of girls hockey!

JV Lady Kings

The Springfield Lady Kings JV girls met with 3 teams in Peoria on January 12 and 13.

The first game the Lady Kings played was against the St. Louis Cyclones. This game was was scoreless until the third period when Bailey Zummer finally nailed one with an assist from Sabrina Canada and Ciara Gobelman. Allyson Edwards, goalie, gets a shut-out.

Score: Lady Kings - 1 Cyclones - 0



The second game on Saturday was with Twin Bridges. This game was a real nail biter with penalties flying everywhere on both sides. Again the first 2 periods where scoreless. The third period finally saw a goal from Caitlin Ward with Ciara Gobelman with an assist. One of the newest player on the JV team Sierra Gates does an awesome job of keeping the puck
into the zone. Olivia Fossier, another new player, does a great job of getting in midst of things and getting her stick on the puck. During this period the Lady Kings kill 2 penalties.
The goalie Allyson Edwards denies a goal in her lap, getting her another shut-out.

Score: Lady Kings - 1 Twin Bridges - 0


The third game was played on Sunday against Kansas City. This game started off fast with a goal from Kansas with the Lady Kings anwering with a beautiful set up by Ciara Gobelman and Allie Lantz to Bailey Zummer. Kansas City scores again before the buzzer. The second period , Kaylee Edwards does a fantastic job of getting into the little scuffles, which leads her into the penalty box (her first penalty). Kansas City scores. The third period left each team scoreless.
