- Work toward the establishment of two teams per level, i.e. Mite, Squirt, PeeWee, Bantam and Midget, with a minimum of 14 players per team.
- Recruit players to play on competitive teams.
- Provide quality programming and instruction that promotes player development, sportsmanlike conduct and team play.
- Select quality, USA Hockey certified coaches who are committed to player development, sportsmanlike conduct and team play.
- Conduct a coaching candidates meeting in July to communicate the responsibilities and requirements of serving as a coach. Attendance at this meeting is a prerequisite for coaching.
- Select coaches for all teams at August Board Meeting.
- Conduct tryouts for competitive teams.
- Conduct regular coaches clinics for SYHA coaches.
- Conduct parents meeting during tryouts.
- Oversee volunteer appointments for each team as directed by by-laws.
- Oversee submission of coaches’ annual plans outlining season objectives, including games to be played, tournaments, and fundraising activities.
- Coordinate summer hockey programs in coordination with Vice President of House League.

- Oversee Learn-to-Skate and Learn-to-Play programs along with the development of a mini-mite program for 5-6 year old players. The mini-mite program will play at least 5 home games.
- Ensure quality programming that teaches players the skills necessary to move to the next level of hockey in an expeditious and effective manner.
- Develop measurable performance skills for levels of hockey within LTS/LTP.
- Develop a system to evaluate players to see if they are ready to move to the next level; oversee periodic evaluations and communicate those results to parents and players.
- Recruit quality, USA Hockey certified coaches that are dedicated to the programs and that are committed to the success of the programs.
- Oversee an effective communications plan that informs parents and players about performance measures, hockey skills, hockey equipment sizing and fitting, hockey terminology, hockey rules, hockey conduct, SYHA functions and activities and other items as needed.

- Establish a Lower and Upper House League. The Lower House League is an internal hockey program for Mite and Squirt players and will consist of a minimum of 4 teams of 15 players each. The Upper House League is an internal hockey program for PeeWee, Bantam and Midget players and will consist of a minimum of 4 teams of 15 players each.
- Provide quality programming and instruction that promotes player development, sportsmanlike conduct and team play.
- Select quality, USA Hockey certified coaches who are committed to player development, sportsmanlike conduct and team play.
- Provide for 1 practice and 1 game per week for each team by the 3rd week of the season.
- Communicate effectively with parents and players.
- Publish practice and game schedule for season by third week of season.
- Host a House League All-Star Tournament for both the Lower and Upper House League. These tournaments will consist of one SYHA all-star team and 3 other house league teams.
- Secure business sponsors for each House League team.
- Oversee volunteer appointments for each team as directed by by-laws.
- Coordinate summer hockey programs in coordination with Vice President of Competitive Programs.

- Solicit and acquire business
sponsors generating at least $10,000 annually for the Association.
This is to include acquiring business sponsors for the House League;
developing levels of business sponsorship; selling dasher boards
as applicable and developing other fundraising programs.
- Develop and oversee external
communications plan using radio, television and print media.
- Oversee member recruitment
activities. This is to include the development and distribution
of fliers to schools; placing registration materials at local
stores and inline skating rinks in the area; conducting taste
of hockey days and other special events geared toward increasing
membership.
- Oversee business sponsor
signs at both rinks of Nelson Center and ensure they are current.
- Oversee team fundraising
activities.
- Oversee the sale of Springfield
Kings merchandise by Association teams for the benefit of the
teams with 10% of the profit going to the Association.
- Conduct annual meeting.
- Assist in registration of
players.
- Oversee volunteer appointments
as directed by by-laws.

The 2007-2008 meeting dates for the SYHA Board of
Directors have been scheduled for the first Monday of each month. All
board meetings will be held at 7:15 PM in the Franklin Room at the Nelson
Center. Additional meetings may be scheduled on an as needed basis.
All SYHA members are welcome and are encouraged to attend.
