Youth Sports Guidelines Update

By SYHA, 07/30/20, 9:00PM CDT

How does this impact us?

Hello Kings Hockey Family,

The members of the Board wanted to reach out to you in regards to the most recent Illinois youth sport guidelines.  The guidelines have placed youth hockey in the high risk category, which has had many of you worried and asking questions about what the upcoming season holds for our players.

At this point, we will hold conditioning camp and tryouts for all competitive levels (10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U).

Based on the Illinois youth sport guidelines, we are allowed to conduct Level 1 activities, which allows non contact practices, conditioning and training.

Please keep in mind that these are guidelines and are not governing law.  Recently, IESA and IHSA have made many changes recently in youth sports affecting our children. These rules do NOT pertain to SYHA as we are governed by Missouri Youth Hockey as well as USA Hockey.  These two bodies will be who we will be looking to as guidance for our upcoming season.

Registration for conditioning camp and tryouts will be active next week for everyone to participate in at their discretion.  The Board will continue to monitor the situation and provide critical information and updates as they become available. As with most things within our communities, things that impact our daily lives evolve very quickly. We ask you to exercise a degree of patience as we navigate this difficult time.  As always,  we value the players and families more than ever and  will keep the safety of the players and families in mind as we proceed.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please reach out to us. We are available to you and value your input. We all look forward to  regaining normalcy in our life, keeping our players and families safe and healthy, and preparing for another great season of the game all of our children love to play.
