FALL LEARN-TO-PLAY: It’s back! The fall MinorHawks Learn to Play Program returns in October! Sign up soon - spots will fill up quickly!
OVERVIEW: The MinorHawks Learn to Play Hockey program is made possible by a partnership between the Chicago Blackhawks Organization, the Springfield Park District and the Springfield Youth Hockey Association. The program is for boys and girls alike, ages 3-15, and is the beginner, feeder program for all other hockey programs. The program aims to provide new players with skills essential to playing ice hockey. These include; skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting.
DETAILS: The program is for new players and is eight weeks in length, one night per week, and equipment is available with a refundable deposit. New participants will enroll in "Learn to Play 1", and will eventually graduate to "Learn to Play 2". The 45 minute Learn to Play 1 class is offered on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings (choose just one to attend). The program feeds into recreational house leagues and or competitive travel teams.

EQUIPMENT: Players needing rental equipment may visit the Nelson Center to be fitted for equipment (call first, please). Please bring a check made to SYHA for $125 ($100 refunded after equipment is returned). Players may keep the equipment for as many sessions of MinorHawks Learn to Play as they continue to enroll in!
